Walt Disney Signed Autograph Album
A beautiful Snow White-era Walt Disney autograph along with autographs of
approximately two dozen other Hollywood luminaries in an autograph album
dating to the 1930s. Walt Disney has signed with a huge signature--
his is the largest autograph in the album with a giant pencil signature
taking up the full
4.5" x 5.75"
page!
Walt Disney's signature dates from the late 1930's-- about the
time of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Walt Disney
autographs from this early period are far more rare than signatures from the
1950's and 1960's. Walt simply wasn't recognized as much before he
started appearing on TV in the 1950s, making this early signature rare.
This early style of Walt's cursive autograph is the type used as the logo of
the Walt Disney Classics Collection (as shown at right).
Other autographs in the album include
Spencer Tracy, James Gleason, cowboy actor Hoot Gibson (twice), Mary
Pickford, Bonita Granville (whose future husband, coincidentally, will build
the Disneyland Hotel), Buddy Rogers, Big Boy Williams, opera singer Rosa
Ponselle Jackson, Mary Astor, Helen Mack, Cowboy star Tim Holt, Mary Brian,
Majorie Weaver, Leo Carillo, J(ames) Cagney, C. Aubrey Smith, H. B. Warner
(featured in It's a Wonderful Life), Roland Young, Daryl F. Zanuck, Charles
Coburn and others we haven't deciphered.
Walt Disney's signature
could be framed and matted to make a beautiful showpiece!
