Sleeping Beauty Print

Walt Disney's 1959 full length animated motion picture became an instant classic.  This beautiful scene of "Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty" is a dye-transfer print created by the Walt Disney Studio for promotional purposes (gifts to top-selling film salespeople, entertainment reporters, charity auctions, etcetera).  Many of these prints went unsigned, others were signed by Disney employees signing on behalf of their busy boss, and a rare few- such as this wonderful piece- were personally autographed by Walt Disney. 

This delightful print shows Sleeping Beauty, dressed as Briar Rose, surrounded by her forest friends while Prince Phillip descreetly watches from behind.  "Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty" is a retelling of the classic fairy tale, following the story of Princess Aurora, cursed by the evil Maleficent to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep on her sixteenth birthday.  Princess Aurora's journey, guided by the three good fairies Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, culminates in a timeless battle between good and evil as Prince Phillip must brave Maleficent's castle to awaken her with true love's first kiss.

Walt Disney has signed the mat in brown crayon with a giant five inch long auotgraph!  This piece is not inscribed (is not signed "To Ben" for example) making it especially desirable.  Print includes the Disney authenticity label on the reverse (shown at left).   Today these prints are prized by collectors as one of the most attractive and displayable of all Walt Disney autographed items.  Measures 19'' x 16'' overall.  Minor soiling to mat, overall very fine condition.  Frame shows significant wear.  Artwork autographed by Walt Disney is highly desired by collectors and Sleeping Beauty is one of the most uncommon dye transfer prints.  What a showpiece in any home or office!  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.
